The Kingston Land Trust Hosts Jazz Mixer at the Stockade Tavern in Kingston, NY.  World renowned bassist Tony Levin and his brother, accomplished pianist Pete Levin are scheduled to perform.

Kingston, NY – The Kingston Land Trust, an Urban Land Trust in Kingston, NY is hosting a ‘Jazz mixer’ at the Stockade Tavern located at 313 Fair Street in Kingston, NY  845/514-2649 on Tuesday, Feburary 12th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Suggested donation is $50 (a portion of this amount will be tax deductible) with cash and checks accepted at the door. First come, first served so get there early to secure a good seat. The Kingston Land Trust Board of Directors also plan on giving a short presentation during the event.

Brothers bassist Tony Levin and pianist Pete Levin are scheduled to perform.

Tony Levin is a prolific session musician since the 1970s, and has played on 500 albums, including those of Cher, Alice Cooper, John Lennon, Sarah McLachlan,Stevie Nicks, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Buddy Rich, The Roches, Todd Rundgren, Seal, Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, Warren Zevon, Kevin Parent, Laurie Anderson, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, and Jean-Pierre Ferland. Additionally, he has toured with artists including Paul Simon(with whom Levin appeared in Simon’s 1980 film One Trick Pony), Gary Burton, James Taylor, Herbie Mann, Judy Collins, Carly Simon, Peter Frampton, Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, Peter Gabriel, Tim Finn, Richie Sambora, and Claudio Baglioni. Levin helped to popularize the Chapman Stick and the NS upright bass. He also created “funk fingers”, modified drumsticks attached to fingers used to hit the bass guitar strings (which sounds similar to slap style bass).

Pete Levin has had a diverse music career spanning several decades and has performed and recorded with hundreds of Jazz and Pop artists including Paul Simon, Annie Lennox, Miles Davis, David Sanborn, Lenny White, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, Robbie Robertson and John Scofield – receiving critical accolades for his work during a 15 year association with the legendary Gil Evans, and his 8 year stint with jazz icon Jimmy Giuffre.
