The Kingston Land Trust Welcomes its Newest Board Member Lee Anne Albritton. Ms. Albritton brings over a decade of community organization and programming experience and expertise to the Trust’s efforts.

Kingston, NY –   The Kingston Land Trust is proud to announce the addition of Lee Anne Albritton to their Board of Directors. Lee Anne lives in the city of Kingston with her partner and editor of Chronogram magazine Brian Mahoney.  She spent 14 years developing childcare and family programming for the YMCA helping to create “Healthy Kids” that brought gardens into the New Paltz school curriculum and changed some menu offerings towards healthier school nutrition.  Her other credits include the involvement at the YMCA Southern Ulster Branch, Ulster County Action Network’s youth program coalition, New Paltz youth commission and the Ellenville/Wawarsing youth commission.  She spent time volunteering for the Queens Galley Operation Frontline and currently proof reads and works doing web content management for the Chronogram/Luminary publication. Lee Anne also works to create youth programming for the Kingston YMCA Children’s Garden with garden steward Ed Blouin, where they plan to expand the community garden plots this season with the support of the Creating Healthy Places grant recently secured by Cornell Cooperative Extension where the Kingston Land Trust is a partner. Are you interested in helping to shape trails in Ulster County? Now may be your opportunity.

There are several vacancies on the UCTAC for voting members.  The eleven voting members are comprised of people from the various trails communities throughout Ulster County.  The original County Resolution also takes into consideration geographic distribution of its members.

Among the goals that the UCTAC has for 2011 is to expand community participation in our activities which include our monthly meetings, information gathering, networking, and enhanced advocacy efforts relating to the benefits that trails bring to Ulster County.

I’d like to thank garden volunteer Paul Rakov and the generous donation of seedlings from Phillies Bridge Farm in New Paltz/Gardiner for  yesterday’s mission!  Paul took a bucket of compost from Kingston to their farm – and helped to transplant 96 seedlings of Eggplant, Peppers and Tomatoes to deliver to Queens Galley in support of their raised bed gardens this season.

This effort will provide a great deal of food for our community in need all summer/fall long.
