Fiscal Sponsorship

The Kingston Land Trust has the ability to serve as the fiscal sponsor for special projects that align with our mission. This means that we use our 501(c)3 not profit status to accept and administer grant funding or donations on behalf of an individual or another organization.

FAQs:

Why use a fiscal sponsor?

Fiscal sponsors are a great option for individuals or organizations without 501(c)3 non-profit status who would like to recieve grant or donations for a project. The support of an established non-profit like the Kingston Land Trust can strengthen a grant application or funding request. Fiscal sponsors often provide additional capacity, infrustructure, and know-how when it comes to administering grant funds.

How much does having a fiscal sponsor cost?

As a general standard, we request 10% of the funds held on behalf of the sponsored group as an administrative fee to offset administration costs of the fiscal sponsorship.

I have grant or project idea that the Kingston Land Trust might be able to support as a fiscal sponsor. How do I get started? First, contact us and tell us your idea!

All fiscal sponsorship requests are reviewed closely by the KLT staff and board in terms of our capacity, mission alignment, and project feasibility. Fiscal sponsorships are voted on at our monthly board meetings, which take place third Wednesdays of the month.
